From Chicago to Argentina. In 2011 I made a very important trip in my life that, without having previously planned it, ended up in this project that I now present to you. For five months I traveled the American continent, from north to south, tracing the deep sounds of street guitars; guitars from around the world, heirs to the European traditions of Spain, France and Great Britain that merged with the laments of indigenous peoples and slaves from Africa. Tracing an “alternative” route to commercial routes and sometimes through “clandestine” places that do not appear in GPS, I found sounds, places and people that inspired me to create this work. The American shamans of the six strings showed me the coordinates to walk through these “Secondary Roads” and be able to share with you this musical journey that will take us in this Vol. 1 through deep North America.
